I have been traveling quite a bit this fall – it is a learning opportunity for me to meet people working to implement interprofessional education and collaborative practice.  I meet people doing interesting work, learn about what is happening in interprofessional education nationally and continue to discuss how the National Center can support their efforts.

Nexus Innovations Incubator sites launched; research agendas set

Testing new models of care and training is key to the transformation of health care through interprofessional practice and education. To that end, eight “pioneer” Nexus Innovations Incubator teams have stepped up to become applied research laboratories for the National Center. The development of the incubator network and the national database is a shared resource model. The National Center provides seed funding and a team of experts, working with each site to leverage and identify their own resources. The goal of the partnership is long-term sustainability of IPE implementation.

The seventh international All Together Better Health conference on interprofessional practice and education will be held on June 6-8, 2014 at the University of Pittsburgh, Pa, United States. All Together Better Health promotes collaboration between providers, health system executives, educators, policy makers, and health care industry leaders for the betterment of interprofessionalism. The conference will focus on the triple aim of improving health care and population health while lowering costs. National Center appoints new senior research scientist

Lutfiyya to focus on the links between interprofessional practice and education and the Triple Aim

The National Center has appointed Nawal Lutfiyya, PhD, FACE as a senior research scientist, focusing on interprofessional practice and education and the impact it can have on the Triple Aim of improving the patient experience, improving health in populations and reducing the per capita cost of health care.
