The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education presents two awards at each annual Nexus Summit conference.

National Center Pioneer Award

The National Center Pioneer Award recognizes interprofessional practice and education pioneers for the foundational role that they have played in advancing the field. This award is reserved for those who have made significant contributions that have forever shaped and advanced the field of interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

George E. Thibault, MD Nexus Award

The George E. Thibault, MD Nexus Award celebrates exemplary interprofessional collaboration in the United States and those who are thinking and acting differently where practice and education connect in health systems.

Barbara F. Brandt Leadership Award

The Barbara F. Brandt Leadership Award honors an individual or organization that has demonstrated outcomes that have advanced the Nexus of interprofessional practice and education, with a commitment to scholarship and resilience in bringing people together with a focus on improving outcomes that matter.

A Personal Tribute to IPE Pioneer, Hugh Barr (1935-2025)
Hugh Barr was one of the pre-eminent scholars and foundational thinkers in interprofessional education and collaborative care. 

In Memory of Dr. DeWitt C. “Bud” Baldwin (1922-2022)
DeWitt “Bud” Baldwin was an IPE pioneer, foundational researcher, teacher and champion in the field of interprofessional health care and collaborative practice. A collection named in his honor represents invaluable materials he collected during his career.  

Scott Reeves (1967-2018)
Scott Reeves was a sociologist and ethnographer that brought his lens to the study of health and social care, including his service as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Interprofessional Care.
