National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education Values Statement

For more than a decade, the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education has been committed to the Nexus: aligning learning among current and future health professionals with the needs within the health systems and communities they serve. This intentional alignment is necessary to transform practice and education simultaneously for better learning, organizational and health outcomes. Our work is centered on our North Star - the health of individuals, families, communities, and populations served - as discussed within the NexusIPE™ Learning Model.

As we embark on new opportunities and challenges, the National Center remains steadfast in our commitment to the Nexus and our North Star.

  • We will continue to advocate for effective collaborations and teamwork across all health professions to advance high quality and effective care.
  • We will continue to serve our community as an unbiased, neutral convener across professions, organizations, and practice settings.
  • We value the lived experience and expertise of partners within the healthcare system and the community.
  • We value and will continue to foster leadership, courage, and creativity across all professions that advance the alignment of healthcare and education systems to improve outcomes and support innovation that generates new knowledge through partnerships.

The National Center will focus our efforts to:

  1. Advance new models of care and education that enable all professions within our health workforce to effectively engage in the delivery of high value care that improves health,
  2. Optimize the current and future health workforce, and
  3.  Prepare the next generation of health professionals to advance health and meet the needs of clinical and community partners and the people they serve.
