Abstract:

The evolution of virtual teaching during the pandemic has revolutionized health professional education, creating a decade of change within the span of a week. (Langlois, 2020, Lackie et al., 2020). At the Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare and Education (formerly named the Centre for Interprofessional Education), curriculum and pedagogy pivoted to virtual delivery to serve the needs of stakeholders/organizations.

1. Identify the three primary mental health needs of TGNCNB patients.

2. Define the medical procedures requiring mental health assessments/letters, including transition criteria.

3. Map the recommended framework for assessments before and after gender-affirming surgery, including implementation considerations such as Trauma Informed Care

This video (10:40 minutes) features people living with dementia and a care partner (Terry Montgomery, Cheryl and Mike Belleville, and Barney Nelson) discusses what they like about telehealth visits and what helps them have the best telehealth visit possible. This playlist consists of 12 videos ranging from 30 seconds to 3 minutes in which Dementia Action Alliance on the Mark experts give tips on caring for people with dementia. The tips are suited to online programming and are more generally useful for anyone planning a program or telehealth visit or even a personal zoom call with a person living with dementia.

In this video (9:15 minutes), AgingME GWEP Director Dr. Susan Wehry and members of the Dementia Action Alliance End of Life Committee discuss planning the care of a loved one with dementia from diagnosis to end of life. Speakers include Janice Bays, board chair of the Dementia Action Alliance; Barney Nelson, a person living with Lewy Body Dementia; and Jacquelyn Pogue, an award-winning writer and filmmaker.

This video (20:46 minutes) provides cooking strategies for people living with dementia. Four people living proactively with dementia, Michael Belleville, John-Richard Pagan, Monica Downer, and Laurie Scherrer, will discuss an everyday activity for prepping and cooking meals and what accommodations and strategies they use.

This page has seven videos providing information on different long-term care and end-of-life industries from those who work in them. Presenters describe typical work responsibilities, discuss important qualifications and characteristics of successful employees, and give tips on where to learn more or get started. Workers share what they love about their jobs as well as its challenges, while care beneficiaries share why their care team means so much to them.

This video (1:21:07 minutes) is a presentation given by Daniel C. Potts in which he discusses different forms of art and its usefulness in dementia care. By the end of this presentation, learners should be able to: (1) describe benefits of art therapies and creativity in persons with cognitive impairment; and (2) tout the benefits of the arts to honor personhood, enable human connection, and promote relationships by highlighting specific stories.

This video (1:26:39 minutes) is a presentation given by Jonathan Drake in which he discusses lifestyle risk factors for dementia. Main points of the presentation includes: (1) defining Alzheimer's disease and dementia; (2) the evolving science of Alzheimer's disease; (3) why white matter of the brain matters (blood vessels and inflammation); (4) vascular risk factors and dementia risk; (5) multifactorial risk and the science of aging; and (6) the optimism within this field of research.
