The National Center was honored to be commissioned to submit a paper on "Social Determinants of Health: Nursing, Health Professions and Interprofessional Education at a Crossroads" to the National Academy of Medicine to accompany its recent report "The Future of Nursing 2020-2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity (2021)". Obesity in older adults provokes serious problems. In this report from The Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the evaluation, consequences, and clinical management of obesity and overweight are reviewed with focus on the unique challenges of this condition in older adults with other chronic diseases, mobility defects, and other compromises in activities of daily living.

This consensus study report from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine examines the complex body of evidence on dementia care and informs decision making about which interventions are ready to be broadly disseminated and implemented. It also offers a blueprint to guide future research using rigorous, cutting-edge methods that are inclusive, equitable, and yield critical information for real-world implementation, toward the ultimate goal of better supporting persons with dementia and their care partners and caregivers in living as well as possible.
