The Center for Consumer Engagement in Health Innovation has created a toolkit to guide advocates as they assess and work with state’s Medicaid ACOs (Accountable Care Organizations). Each section contains a list of items to consider as Medicaid ACOs are designed and implemented. Creating this type of system takes time and is an evolving process. The most fundamental part of each component is to ensure that the consumer voice is present. Consumer advocates can play a role in the design, implementation and oversight of Medicaid ACOs.

Financial Exploitation of Older Adults: Dr. Peter Lichtenberg and his team have created tools and services for older adults to help prevent scams and fraud and to help those older adults and families impacted by financial exploitation. Professionals working with older adults are encouraged to create an account and take the training to use OANE’s cutting-edge tools. Older adults can complete the Financial Vulnerability Survey anonymously and get feedback about their vulnerability. Finally, caregivers and others can access training and tools customized to their needs.

Hospice- Determining Terminal Status; Coverage Indications, Limitations, And/Or Medical Necessity

Medicare coverage of hospice depends on a physician’s certification that an individual’s prognosis is a life expectancy of six months or less if the terminal illness runs its normal course. This LCD describes guidelines to be used by National Government Services (NGS) in reviewing hospice claims and by hospice providers to determine eligibility of beneficiaries for hospice benefits. Although guidelines applicable to certain disease categories are included, this LCD is applicable to all hospice patients.

Identifying perceptions through interprofessional education and collaboration in the dental clinic

Investigates perceptions and associated learning outcomes of a dental clinic-based IPE experience between pharmacy and dentistry students. Findings support further development of IPE between pharmacy and dentistry students within a dental clinic but call for the redesign of the activity using a longitudinal approach.
