This presentation (36:20 minutes) given by Dr. Manu Thakral from the Kaiser Permanete Washington Health Research Institute discusses the epidemiology of the opioid crisis as well as how this translates into the geriatric patient. She also discusses the criteria for diagnosing someone with a substance use disorder and the special considerations for older patients. Finally, she reviews treatment guidelines and medications that providers can use to treat these disorders.
