This video (8:40 minutes) describes the short physical performance battery (SPPB) test for older adults. The SPPB is a performance-based, three-part assessment to measure functional status and predict future functional decline. The assessment includes gait speed, balance, and lower extremity strength. The SPPB assessment takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

This video (2:18 minutes) describes the whisper test for older adults. The whisper test is a simple and accurate screening test to detect hearing impairment. The administration of this test takes one to two minutes. The Whisper Test is also utilized in Medicare AWV+ Visits as a way to identify potential hearing loss or issues and refer patients to audiology services to ensure independence and optimal aging.

This video (6:12 minutes) by Lisa Gibbs discusses how to incorporate the Annual Wellness exam in practice. She also provides information on why it is beneficial to a provider and their patients short and long term.

This Dementia Friends information session included participants from many health science professions, educators, students, and family caregivers. The Champion trainer was Colleen Fritsch, a volunteer Master Trainer for Dementia Friends, who is skilled at offering an engaging online learning experience. In this video, Colleen Fritsch will teach how to make a dementia friendly community. Teachings will also include an understanding what is happening to the person living with dementia and how to better communicate with and support that person.

Abstract:

The evolution of virtual teaching during the pandemic has revolutionized health professional education, creating a decade of change within the span of a week. (Langlois, 2020, Lackie et al., 2020). At the Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare and Education (formerly named the Centre for Interprofessional Education), curriculum and pedagogy pivoted to virtual delivery to serve the needs of stakeholders/organizations.

1. Identify the three primary mental health needs of TGNCNB patients.

2. Define the medical procedures requiring mental health assessments/letters, including transition criteria.

3. Map the recommended framework for assessments before and after gender-affirming surgery, including implementation considerations such as Trauma Informed Care

This video (10:40 minutes) features people living with dementia and a care partner (Terry Montgomery, Cheryl and Mike Belleville, and Barney Nelson) discusses what they like about telehealth visits and what helps them have the best telehealth visit possible. They also provide information on how telehealth visits can improve access to care. From AgingME and the Dementia Action Alliance.
