Background
In 2019, the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC) and the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (National Center) charged the Interprofessional Education Organizational Models Task Force to study the organizational models and structures of US IPE programs using a mixed methodology of quantitative survey and qualitative analysis.
Using the Emma Stracener Case Study to Examine Technology Support Options for Caregivers of Older Adults
This teaching strategy from the National League of Nursing's Advancing Care Excellence for Caregivers series uses a case study approach to engage students to think through a complex situation involving an older adult who is starting to decline and a concerned family member who is becoming a caregiver. The use of technology to assist the aging adult to live safely at home, commonly referred to as aging in place, is emphasized. Learning objectives, learner pre-work, and suggested learning activities and readings are included. Files are downloadable/printable.
Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Interprofessional Oral Health Clinical Experience Guide
OHNEP's new Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Interprofessional Oral Health Clinical Experience Guide brings students from different health professions together for a team-building clinical rotation where they learn to more effectively provide whole-person care for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This guide is a model used by NYU College of Dentistry and NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing for Dental (DDS) Students and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) students.
Geriatric ECHO: Building Resilience for Dementia Caregivers during the COVID-19 Pandemic
This presentation (51:32 minutes) by Sara Tompkison discusses dementia caregivers. By the end of the presentation, learners should be able to: (1) describe two or more factors that impact the biopsychosocial well-being of dementia caregivers during the pandemic; (2) define the attributes and/or benefits of resilience for dementia caregivers; (3) explain the health care providers role in assessment of caregiver burden for dementia caregivers; and (4) identify three interventions that health care providers can implement to build and empower dementia caregiver resilience.
