This presentation (57:13 minutes) given by LuAnn Lundquist discusses how to create a community-based activity group for those with dementia. She walks through what qualifies as a community-based activity group versus an adult day care, who attends a dementia activity group, and the Global Deterioration Scale for dementia and Alzheimer's disease and how an activity group should be geared for each stage. She also discusses who can provide these service and activities. The presentation also includes some rules and precautions that should be created as a policy for an activity group.

This presentation (57:18 minutes) given by Sarah Jane Obray discusses dementia caregiver kits. Her goal is to introduce a new resource or tool that will be fun to incorporate into a caregiving routine and helps decrease stress and redirect a person who is exhibiting difficult behaviors. This presentation (59:33 minutes) given by Alberto Enrique Varela discusses the intersection between geriatric care and dentistry and how it relates to the 4M's of geriatric care. Topics covered include: the 5M’s of Geriatrics; the mind and mouth; medications, mobility, and the mouth; multicomplexity and what matters most; how to integrate the mouth into what you do; and how to recognize need for dental intervention. This presentation (59:51 minutes) by Linda Cole discusses the importance of staying connected during challenging times. The principles presented can be applied to any challenges that happen in one's life, not just the current COVID-19 pandemic. It focuses on where we are at personally, where we are might be with clients, where we might be as caregivers at this stage of the pandemic, and what we might be seeing, especially how we connect with other people.

This presentation (57:34 minutes) has two parts. The first part is presented by Hailey Haffey, who focuses on "Narrative Medicine and Caregiving for Memory-Related Conditions." She discusses the concept of narrative medicine and and her work with a nurse-led team implementing narrative medicine for education and memory-related conditions. The second part of the presentation is "Registered Nurses Working at the Top of Their Licensure: Cognitive Assessment and Management" (34:38) by Larry Garrett. This presentation (51:43 minutes) given by Catherine Sharpsteen and Bonnie Shepherd discusses dementia and frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) from a family perspective. By the end of the presentation, learners should be able to: (1) define dementia; (2) know what is FTD; and (3) give a summary of FTD subtypes. This presentation (53:39 minutes) given by Megan Owens discusses nutrition and dementia, specifically caregiver needs at mealtime. Topics of this presentation include: (1) a brief overview of caregiver burden specific to dementia and memory loss needs of care recipients; (2) mealtime challenges to each stage of dementia; (3) dietary patterns regarding memory loss and Alzheimer's; (4) mealtime strategies for caregivers; (5) specific nutrition concerns like weight loss and fiber intake; and (6) resources for caregivers to utilize.

This presentation (48:00 minutes) by Rebecca Utz discusses the research done at University of Utah about respite and caregivers. She then speaks about how the research led to an intervention that has been developed and tested with caregivers.
