The Integrating the Geriatric Surgery Verification (GSV) Program with the 4Ms course and case studies is a series that was created to educate health professionals on how to incorporate the 4Ms (What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility) and the Geriatric SurgeryVerification Program into practice. This series includes one introductory course and four case studies. The introductory course discusses the perioperative experience as implemented through the GSV standards and the 4Ms framework.

The Foundations of Nursing Care for Older Adults series consists of 13 individual and interactive online modules featuring the latest content developed by faculty at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, engaging graphics, and knowledge checks for learners as they proceed through the learning content.

This learning module focuses on evaluating memory changes. This course will help you to: (1) identify common memory changes that occur before families receive a dementia diagnosis; (2) understand the process of getting a dementia diagnosis from a healthcare team; and (3) identify resources for addressing a family member's ongoing care-related needs. A list of resources is available for download. The module is also available in Spanish.

This learning module discusses healthcare teams. By the end of the presentation, learners should be able to: (1) discuss the reasons an interprofessional team can provide better care for an older adult with multiple chronic conditions (MCC); (2) identify the roles and responsibilities of possible common team members; and (3) describe how the individual older adult needs to determine who becomes a member of the team. More than one-third of U.S. patients are health illiterate and older adult health literacy levels are lower than younger adults. Lower health literacy is related to low patient adherence, poor health quality and outcomes, reduced patient safety, and higher rates of disease and mortality. Participate in this module to learn about health literacy disparities across populations and to develop strategies to address poor health literacy.

Over the past 50 years, the understanding of the impact of nutrition on health has become increasingly important, facilitating a growing interest in the relationships between aging and nutrition. Participate in this module to better understand the unique nutritional needs of the older adult and recognize that undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies are common among older adults but are not a normal part of aging.

This learning module focuses on aging and what older adults can expect to experience changes in. Changes that older adults experience and are discussed in this course include: (1) muscle mass; (2) vision; (3) hearing; (4) taste and smell; (5) cognition; (6) sleep patterns; and (7) metabolism. This learning module focuses on Multiple Chronic Conditions (MCC). MCC is defined as having two or more chronic illnesses at the same time. It makes treating one illness at a time more difficult. The treatment goal should be the older adult's quality of life. The module is also available in Spanish.

This learning module has three parts and discusses person-centered dementia care in a hospital setting. The first topic is person-center dementia care in the hospital setting. Learners should be able to: (1) list common reasons why persons living with Alzheimer's Disease and related Dementias (ADRD) are hospitalized; (2) describe what is meant by person-centered care and how it applies specifically to persons living with ADRD; and (3) discuss what are important factors to consider if a person who lives with ADRD has to be hospitalized.

This learning module discusses the important role that family caregivers plays in the care of older adults. By the end of the module, learners should be able to: (1) the importance of choosing the appropriate family caregivers; (2) how health care providers and older adults and their caregivers can best communicate with each other; (3) the challenges and positive aspects of caregiving; and (4) how to support family caregivers.
