NIHAN’s Geriatric Seminar Series provides free health care education and resources to the geriatric community, by presenting topics related to the 4M’s, an age-friendly health care framework—What Matters, Medication, Mobility, and Mentation. The goal of the 15-session NIHAN Geriatric Series is to foster healthy aging for old adults, in order to create a more healthy and age-friendly geriatric community in Nevada.

This seminar discusses hearing loss in aging. Statistically, hearing loss is a very common condition affecting the older adult population and so chances are, either you or someone you know has a hearing loss. The goal of this Week 12 session is to raise awareness about the importance of addressing untreated hearing loss. It provides information about the signs and causes of hearing loss and what to look for if you suspect someone you know has hearing loss. We will explore the detrimental effects of this condition and its pervasive correlation with overall health and quality of life. Finally, we will discuss treatment options and where to seek help through a better understanding of the differences between hearing healthcare professionals.

In this seminar, topics covered include:
Signs & Causes of Hearing Loss
