This is a reflection-on-practice describing how an orofacial pathology interprofessional education (IPE) initiative was designed and implemented for undergraduate students in the discipline of dentistry, oral health and medical laboratory science. Six interprofessional competencies were used to guide the construction of teaching and learning resources. The initiative required students to work collaboratively with a given patient case to develop a differential diagnosis, prepare a treatment plan, and finally present their case to an audience of classmates and staff members, describing how they worked together to address the orofacial pathology in their case. Evaluation information was collected anonymous including comments from students about the six IPE competencies of patient-centred care, role clarification, team functioning, collaborative leadership, communication effectively, and cultural practice.
