In Case You Missed It: Top Clicks from 2014
It’s hard to believe we’re already several weeks into 2015! Sometimes when you’re deep into planning what’s next, it’s easy to lose sight of all the great things that happened during the past year. As we’ve been mapping out upcoming activities and initiatives, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to reflect on some of the partnerships, programs and people that made 2014 so special.
So, in case you missed it, here are a few things that had us talking.
Curated Measurement Instruments and Scoping Review of IPECP Literature
The Resource Exchange hit a milestone when we added our 1,000th item in October. Among the most popular resources were two special collections prepared by the National Center to increase the availability of tools and information for IPECP assessment and evaluation. In January, a collection of 26 measurement instruments was launched, closely followed by a fully searchable scoping review of nearly 500 IPECP literature citations from 2008-2013.
HRSA Webinar Series
October marked the first webinar in a joint series between the National Center and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) that spotlights the IPECP work of different HRSA grantees. The initial webinar, focused on evaluating IPE and care in community clinical settings, was so popular it inspired a lively thread in the National Center Forum. There’s still time to register for the next session, discussing practical steps to address IPECP implementation challenges, set for February 26! You can also browse 28 archived webinars – including those co-hosted with the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative – in the Resource Exchange.
Amina in the Nexus: A Shared Vision
Throughout 2014 the story of Amina, a mother and Somali immigrant managing her diabetes in a team-based setting, had people talking at conferences and classrooms around the world. In November, the National Center released a collection of free, online resources about Amina to help individuals share the idea of IPECP more broadly.
Published Work
We’re working to increase the availability and accessibility of information and evidence about IPECP. These efforts have included preparing special collections – like the scoping review and measurement instruments noted above – to original research and analysis. We’ve collected 14 (and growing!) National Center publications as a collection in the Resource Exchange. One we are particularly proud of is a special section in the publication “Progress and Promise: Profiles in Interprofessional Health Training to Deliver Patient-Centered Primary Care” in collaboration with the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC).
A Growing Network
The Nexus Innovations Incubator Network is expanding! In 12 months this learning laboratory of higher education and health system partners spread to 11 states and 23 projects. Learn more about the specific interventions being studied in this graphic.
Celebrating Two Years as the National Center
In October, the National Center marked two full years of operations. It’s hard to put into a single paragraph some of the highlights, so we’ll let this graphic tell the story for us. Thanks to our funding partners and friends in practice and education for your ongoing support, advice and counsel.
The Journal Club
Since May, the National Center has hosted a bi-monthly “journal club,” focusing on recently published papers that discuss practical applications of IPECP. Facilitated as a Q&A with an author of the publication, the journal clubs have covered a range of topics including a scoping review to improve clarity of IPE interventions, new evaluation instruments and IPE competencies.
International Visitors
Although called the National Center, our platforms – specifically the Resource Exchange and social media – have no borders. People are finding us and looking for direction on how to ramp up IPECP efforts in their home country. This has lead to a few international visitors to the National Center, including Dr. Jill Thistlethwaite, a Fulbright senior scholar from Australia who spent four months with us. She shared her insights and observations in a series of blogs and left her parting thoughts in a video.
Staffing Up
Over the past year the National Center added staff to help support the growing Nexus Innovations Incubator Network and other operational functions. Meet the full team and visit their individual profiles to learn more about their interests and contributions to the National Center online community.
