Oral Health Across the Lifespan Learning Module

The new Oral Health Across the Lifespan Module, created and funded by the Oral Health Nursing Education & Practice (OHNEP) program and the National Interprofessional Initiative on Oral Health (NIIOH), is one of a 15 module series produced by the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR).
The module introduces learners to the Healthy People 2020 Oral Health goals and objectives as well as strategies for achieving them.
The module has 5 parts:
- Introduction and Oral-Systemic Health
- Oral Health For Pregnant Women and Their Newborns
- Oral Health in Childhood
- Oral Health and Older Adults
- Oral Health Literacy
Each part includes supplemental learning materials, such as test questions, discussion questions, and teaching-learning resources.
After completing the Oral Health Module, learners will be able to:
- Discuss issues related to oral health disparities, access, and health outcomes
- Define mechanisms that connect oral health with overall health
- Discuss health conditions and medications that are risk factors for oral health problems
- Discuss interprofessional oral health core competencies and how they can be integrated into health care
