Dr Susan Waller is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the UAE University since January 2021. Susan was previously Lead Rural Nursing and Allied Health program and as Senior Lecturer responsible for supporting Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice at the Monash University Department of Rural and Indigenous Health (MUDRIH). Susan was responsible for interprofessional collaboration leadership through coordination of the development, delivery and evaluation of interprofessional education and practice programs across the footprint of Monash Rural Health and regional and rural health services.

As a paediatric physiotherapist Susan practiced for many years in various allied health services across the hospital and community sectors both in Australia and in the Middle East and experienced firsthand the importance of interprofessional education and collaborative practice to meet service user goals.

Susan studied the impact of an interprofessional student placement in community rehabilitation teams on senior students' perception, knowledge and application of IPE and then compared this to their experience as graduates. Susan was awarded a PhD in Interprofessional Education from the University of Queensland in 2010. She was part of a team who developed an Interprofessional Curriculum in the first private hospital system Clinical School located in a large private hospital in Brisbane and has conducted training workshops in practicing interprofessionally. At Monash University, Susan contributed to the development of the Collaborative Care Curriculum (CCC) and is now actively involved in a taskforce in the UAE devising a national framework for IPECP.
