Dr. Robin Ann Harvan has devoted her professional career to health education, health care workforce issues, and the advancement of health and wellness, health professions education, and clinical practice. After two years of federal government service, Dr. Harvan has returned to academia to serve as Professor of Health Sciences and director of Health Sciences Programs at MCPHS University in Boston. As an independent consultant, Dr. Harvan is President of a woman-owned consulting firm, Creative Health Education Communications (CHEC) Professionals, INC. and recently served as Senior Advisor in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr) in Rockville, Maryland. In this role she was an expert consultant on program evaluation and performance measurement in the Division of Workforce and Performance Management (DWPM). From 2009-2011, Dr. Harvan served as the Acting Deputy Director for Education at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. NICoE was designed to provide the most advanced services for integrative medicine and holistic health modalities, advanced interdisciplinary diagnostics, initial treatment plan and family education, introduction to therapeutic modalities, referral and reintegration support for military personnel and veterans with TBI, post-traumatic stress disorder, and/or complex psychological health issues. In this role, she developed the Concept of Operations plan with outcomes and measures for the Education and Training Directorate and initiated processes and procedures to stand-up the directorate and begin programming and services. From 1995-2009, she was Director of the Office of Education and Executive Director of the Colorado Area Health Education System at the University of Colorado Denver. She served as Program Director of the Masters in Health Professions Education Program from 1985-1995 and Chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies from 1991-1995 at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Health Related Professions.
