Lisa Davenport PhD, RN, CEN is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee. Her BSN was received in 1990 from the University of Tennessee.  She now holds PhD and Master of Science (MSN) degrees in Nursing with a concentration in Homeland Security Nursing (Global Disaster Nursing) from the University of Tennessee. She has obtained knowledge in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and completed a dissertation using a qualitative method/design to fulfill partial requirements for her PhD in Nursing. Grounded theory methodology was used for her dissertation to examine Iraqi refugee resettlement to the U.S. Her professional life, both as an educator and clinician, has been primarily focused in the Appalachian region. She has experience with individual face-to-face and focus group interviewing of persons affected by natural disasters and those who are vulnerable due to lack of resources, such as clean water and sanitation. Her clinical expertise and professional specialty certification is in emergency nursing. Research interests include community-based participatory research, emergency management, community health, practice in low resource settings, and the health impacts of displacement, migration and resettlement.
