Brenda is the Director of Interprofessional Initiatives & Special Projects in Grand Valley State University’s (GVSU) Office of the Vice Provost for Health. In this role, she coordinates functions of the Midwest Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research Center (MIPERC) including workgroup activities, lunch & learn series, the annual conference, the development of six online learning modules, the interprofessional student activity certificate and also serves on the steering committee. She is a founding co-president and past secretary of the Greater Grand Rapids chapter of Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Brenda’s previous professional experience includes working as a nurse manager, charge nurse, school nurse, director of a wellness practice, and interim director of simulation.
She served as project manager for the Safety Culture Transformation Study funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation and Blue Care Network. Brenda also served as the project director of a HRSA NEPQR funded grant, Testing an Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Model to Improve Obesity-related Health Outcomes with a Statewide Consortium using the MIPERC collaborative practice program in two nurse managed centers in Michigan.
