Anthony Delitto, PhD, PT, FAPTA is currently Professor and Chairman of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS), Associate Dean for Research, SHRS, and Vice President for Education and Research, Centers for Rehab Services.  He received his B.S. in Physical Therapy from SUNY Buffalo, NY, his MHS in Physical Therapy and his Ph.D. from Washington University, St. Louis, MO.  Tony has received the Golden Pen award from the APTA in 1992, the APTA Section on Orthopaedic’s Steven J. Rose Award for Clinical Research six times (1993, 1994, 1995, 2003, 2006 and 2007), the APTA Marian Williams Award for Research in Physical Therapy from the APTA, the John H.P. Maley Award from the APTA Research Section in 2004 and the Helen Hislop Aweard in 2014. He was elected as a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the APTA in 2000. He was also honored with the Carlin-Michels Achievement Award presented by the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association in October, 2001. He was asked to deliver the John H. P. Maley lecture at the APTA Conference in 2001, and was the keynote speaker in the 2007 World Confederation of Physical Therapy Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada). He was also asked to deliver the 39th Mary McMillan Lecture in San Antonio, TX in June, 2008. He is active in the Sections on Orthopedics and Education, and Past-President of the Section on Research for the APTA.  Tony has authored or co-authored over eighty peer-reviewed research papers.  Dr. Delitto is currently involved in the treatment and research of low back pain and exercise studies in people with Parkinson's disease, and has had many articles published on these and other professional subjects.
