Sean Lind to lead Resource Exchange
Sean Lind, MA, MLIS, of Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA, has been named National Center’s first Resource Exchange program manager. In this role, Lind will lead strategies to expand Resource Exchange content and use, manage and curate content, build relationships with key stakeholders, respond to user needs and develop new capabilities for the repository.
Nationally, many organizations and individuals are working to improve health care through interprofessional practice and education. A key strategy for National Center is to engage thought-leaders to advance that work. The Resource Exchange is National Center’s interactive, digital information repository—a community-supported collection of resources for health professionals and educators seeking information and scholarly insight into interprofessional practice and education. Users can share information about their programs, post articles, reports, and tools, and connect with professionals with similar interests and issues. The Resource Exchange will also include important research and evaluation materials that pass a review process. This functionality is currently being developed.
Describing the Resource Exchange, Lind said, “This has to be a place where people feel confident and comfortable. The platform should enable users to find the particular content they need, but also allow them to make unexpected connections and discover new ideas. I want to be able to give them what they didn’t think of. And make it easy. That’s what active curation is all about.”
“Sean’s successful experience managing digital collections of information combined with his intellectual property expertise make him the perfect Resource Exchange manager,” comments Barbara Brandt, PhD, director, National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. “His new University of Minnesota library colleagues are impressed with his substantial experience. We are fortunate to have him join the team.”
At Georgia State University, Lind served as digital initiatives librarian and managed the university’s institutional repository, ScholarWorks. He is an expert in open access and copyright and has extensive experience designing systems and implementing technology to ease search and manageability of content. Prior to joining Georgia State, he held positions in the libraries of Emory University and Indiana University. Lind holds a master's degree in library science from Indiana University and another master of arts degree in German language and literature from Washington University, St. Louis, MO.
