Person-Centered Supports for People with Dementia Living in the Community
Submitted by Minnesota North... on Apr 16, 2023 - 1:07pm CDT
In this webinar (1:31:45 minutes), panelists discuss their personal and professional experiences with dementia, along with individual, community, and system level approaches to make supports for people with dementia more person-centered. Participants will learn about the definition of person-centered thinking, planning, and practice, and will hear the panelists answer questions such as: What do person-centered dementia supports look like to you? What are community approaches to support people living with dementia in a person-centered way?
The panelists include Brian Van Buren, Cameron Camp, Elias Rodriguez, and Cynthia Huling Hummel. A presentation is given by Alixe Bonardi before the discussion. By the end of the presentation, learners should be able to: (1) know definitions for person-centered thinking, planning, and practice; (2) describe the population of people living with dementia in the United States; (3 ) understand the perspective of a provider and from people with lived-experience in the community about their experiences with supports for people with dementia; and (4) discuss strategies for supporting people living with dementia.
Slides, transcripts (English & Spanish), and other resouces are available for download.
