As a dental professional, you can play a key role in caring for and supporting people with dementia and their care partners. You and your team can learn how to provide ongoing oral health services, promote timely detection and diagnosis, educate about dementia, and connect people with community resources that promote quality of life. As a dental care setting with dementia champions and helpful practices, you and your team can advance your community’s effort to be supportive of everyone touched by the disease.

This online training program will help you and your dental team create a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for people living with dementia, as well as employ practical strategies and skills to enhance your clinical care. Developed by a team of experts in dementia care, The Dementia Friendly Dental Practices Advanced Training Program provides up-to-date information and practical tips to help meet the oral health needs of adults with dementia and support their care partners to help maintain better oral health and function.

Learn How To: 1) Recognize and assess dementia. 2) Create a safe environment. 3) Discuss ethical and legal concerns, including decision-making capacity and informed consent. 4) Employ successful patient management strategies. 5) Create practical and effective treatment plans. 6) Provide support to patients and their care partners.
