The Minnesota-North Dakota chapter of the Alzheimer's Association conducted interviews with 12 public health officials to gain a better understanding of the agencies' current work and experience with supporting caregivers of dementia patient and the challenges and opportunities anticipated for implementing dementia caregiving programs in the future. This document summarizes key themes and insights concluded from the interviews. The three main takeaway points are: (1) dementia should be centered as a public health issue and stigma around it should be reduced; (2) the need for supporting dementia caregivers should be articulated; and (3) dementia education should be increased and could be reached by diversifying materials and approaches.
