Learning objectives/outcomes:
1. Students will be able to describe the core principles of functional psychiatry, including its patient-focused approach and emphasis on identifying and addressing root causes of mental health conditions.
2. Students will be introduced to objective lab testing in evaluating factors such as nutritional deficiencies, inflammation, gut health, toxicities, hormonal imbalances, metabolic health, and genetic markers in psychiatric care.
3. Students will gain insight into the foundational belief that the body is designed to heal itself, and the importance of removing barriers to healing through personalized interventions.
4. Students will learn how functional psychiatry expands the scope of traditional mental health care by integrating biological, environmental, and lifestyle factors to achieve comprehensive, patient-centered outcomes.
