National Center Data Repository Advisory Council Named
National Center’s Data Repository is up, running and being loaded with information on interprofessional practice and education from the Nexus Innovation Incubator Network sites. To guide and advise on the Data Repository’s development, National Center has named a new advisory council to help create a system with a philosophy similar to “Turbo Tax” — where the data and structure allow questions to be asked and answered simply, easily, and accurately so answers can be turned into effective decisions.
According to Connie Delaney, PhD, dean and professor, University of Minnesota School of Nursing, “The national advisory council includes leaders in informatics, quality and national data/information/exchange standards. It will provide critical review and advice that will position the National Center Data Repository as a leading resource for understanding and advancing the science of interprofessional practice and education.” Delaney is an expert in informatics and co-chair of the advisory council.
National Center Data Repository houses both quantitative and qualitative information about team-based educational and care programs. The National Center Data Repository, the first of its kind in the nation, will enable National Center to demonstrate that, practicing together, learning together and collecting data together will have a positive impact on the Triple Aim of improving the patient experience, improving population health and reducing per capita cost of health care.
Frank Cerra, MD, interim deputy director and senior advisor for National Center, comments, “The purpose of the Data Repository is to provide a system for local sites to contribute data to a national platform to study and learn how true collaboration between practice and education can lead to improved health and reduced costs.” He continued, “We realize our approach is complex both in terms of the architecture and also the content. The external group will serve as a sounding board to ensure we are collecting the right data and a sufficient amount of data stored in a way that can produce meaningful reports.” Cerra also co-chairs the advisory committee.
