Dr. Patricia Welch Saleeby holds an academic position at Southern Illinois University—Carbondale, School of Social Work. She is the Director of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and Social Work Working Group. Her primary professional interests include disability and chronic conditions, health disparities, health and mental health policy and practice, and international health systems. Dr. Saleeby has been one of the key social workers worldwide involved in WHO ICF development, implementation in clinical practice, and education/training. She was the Assistant Coordinator for the ICIDH Field Trials in the U.S. (late 1990s) and the designated professional representative of the National Association of Social Workers in the development of the ICF Clinical Manual since 2001. She has served as a consultant/contractor for the American Psychological Association and CDC, Center for Health Statistics on several ICF projects. Dr. Saleeby has held numerous leadership positions locally and nationally including her current appointment as Co-Chair of the Advisory Group for the Council on Social Work Education’s Center on Diversity, and Social and Economic Justice.
