Bob’s professional interests and areas of research involve the examination of factors affecting functional task performance in older adults and patients recovering from stroke and traumatic brain injury, exploring the psychometric properties of outcome measures used in clinical physical therapy practice, curriculum design, and assessing the effectiveness of interprofessional teaching and learning activities designed to improve interprofessional collaboration.

His involvement in interprofessional education first began in 1997 where he was part of the team that collaborated to develop and deliver the curriculum that is currently being implemented as part of Student Interprofessional Education Day. He has also recently collaborated with colleagues from education, clinical psychology, nursing, human sexuality and social work to develop the curriculum for the Healthcare Mentors Project which provides students with an opportunity to collaboratively examine and develop an interprofessional plan of care for clients with active chronic health conditions that have resulted in activity limitations and participation restrictions. He has collaborated with colleagues in physical therapy and nursing to develop an interprofessional high fidelity simulation activity and is currently working with colleagues in physical therapy and occupational therapy to create a new longitudinal interprofessional curriculum that will feature opportunities for learning to collaborate in actual clinical practice in the Chester Community Pro Bono Clinic.
