National Network of STD Clinical Prevention Training Centers

Contact:

The National Network of STD Clinical Prevention Training Centers (NNPTC) is a CDC-funded group of regional centers created in partnership with health departments and universities. The PTCs are dedicated to increasing the knowledge and skills of health professionals in the areas of sexual and reproductive health. The NNPTC provides health professionals with a spectrum of state-of-the-art educational opportunities including experiential learning with an emphasis on prevention.

Our Interest in Interprofessional Practice and Education:

We often provide training and training assistance services to healthcare organizations and seek to improve provider and clinic practices to support a mulit-displincary and evidance-based approach to sexual health care.  STD clinical training courses provide up-to-date information to public and private clinicians who diagnose, treat, and manage patients with STDs and HIV. Most courses devote 50% of class time to clinical and laboratory experience under the guidance of a qualified preceptor. Standard clinical training courses are 1- to 5-days in length, but PTCs also offer clinical training courses in the following formats: Grand rounds, teleconferencing, home study, on-site courses, and web-based courses.

Signature Programs and Activities:

We are a CDC (Center's of Disease Control and Prevention) funded group of regional training centers who focus on STD clinical training to a variety of healthcare settings. We provide training, consultation, and training assistance to improve STD preventative care.
