I have dedicated much of my professional career to leading interprofessional collaborative teams in practice and integrating interprofessional education competencies into course design and student experiential learning experiences. My career as an advocate for interprofessional collaborative teams and education began as a member of an interprofessional education team teaching nursing and medical students the importance of interprofessional collaborative practice in improving patient quality and safety. I enhanced my experience by educating students, faculty, and community partners on the impact these teams have on achieving the goals of the Quadruple Aim. My recent work as a nurse scientist has complimented my healthcare leadership and interprofessional collaborative team development training, highlighting these concepts to address population health outcomes such as improving healthcare quality, safety, and costs.I have dedicated much of my professional career to leading interprofessional collaborative teams in practice and integrating interprofessional education competencies into course design and student experiential learning experiences. Presently, my research team is developing curricula that integrates IPEC concepts in an academic-community partnership aimed at increasing healthcare access for vulnerable and medically underserved populations.
I currently serve as the lead faculty and teach in the DNP Nurse Executive Leadership concentration in the Quality and Safety course as well as serve on the College of Health and Human Services Interprofessional Collaborative Practice and the university QEP committee.
