I have been a CTRS-BH (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) for 20+ years. My education includes a doctoral degree in Educational Psychology along with a Certificate in Peace Education, a master’s in Recreation and Leisure Studies, and baccalaureate degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a minor in psychology. I currently serve as the Program Director and a Lecturer for the Recreational Therapy Program at the University of Toledo. In addition, I continue to practice as a CTRS-BH with Promedica on one of their inpatient psychiatric units. My past clinical experience includes working with individuals across the life span including Veterans, individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, and psychiatric diagnosis. I am passionate about field, and I have presented at several professional conferences in the areas of Recreational Therapy and Psychiatric Rehabilitation on the topics of mindfulness, Bibliotherapy, recovery, patient education, and the use of evidence-based practice. In addition to being a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, I am also a Certified Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Instructor (seated and standing), an adapted Cardio Drumming instructor, and a Toledo metro parks volunteer.
