Catherine joined the Jefferson Center for InterProfessional Education (JCIPE) team in 1997 as an Administrative Assistant.  At JCIPE, she supports the Co-Directors of the Program, the Assistant Director, Education Coordinators and the Program Assistants.  Besides her other duties, she also coordinates the biennial conference for the Center with approximately two hundred participants.

Prior to joining JCIPE, Catherine began her career in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University in 1990.  She supported three family medicine physicians.  In 1995, she became the Fellowship Coordinator for the Directors of the Faculty Development, Geriatric Medicine and Sports Medicine Fellowships in addition to her administrative assistant duties for the Department.

Jefferson InterProfessional Education Center (JCIPE) has extended the Call for Abstract submission deadline to Friday, June 20, 2014.

A special extended call for abstracts for student presentations will be open until June 30, 2014.

Jefferson InterProfessional Education Center (JCIPE) invites you to submit abstracts for the 2014 Interprofessional Care for the 21st Century: Redefining Education and Practice conference which will be held October 10 to 12, 2014 at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA.  The purpose of this conference is to showcase scholarly work and works in progress related to interprofessional education and/or practice.

 

Conference Learning Objectives:

            a.   Apply a theoretical framework to interprofessional education initiatives.

            b.   Design creative interprofessional education teaching strategies including dynamic academic/clinical partnerships.

            c.   Integrate innovative collaborative practice models in their clinical settings.

            d.  Assess individual education and/or clinical practices in light of the information and discussion during the conference and identify specific strategies to implement as part of a continuing improvement process for your practice(s).

Potential topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Interprofessional competencies and curricular models
  • Faculty and Staff Development and Resources
  • IPE student groups / projects
  • Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
  • Organizational / Culture Change
  • Leadership
  • Evaluation Methods
  • IPE programs for pre-licensure and post-licensure training

Submissions focused on geriatric education or care will be given special consideration for a dedicated geriatric track.

We are seeking presentations in the following categories:

  • Peer Paper – In Progress – is a presentation that shares the early stages / in-progress pilot programs and/or research related to interprofessional education and/or collaborative practice.  Presenters have the opportunity to elicit feedback and foster interactive dialogue.  The session duration is 20 minutes with a 10-minute formal presentation and a 10-minute discussion.
  • Peer Paper – Completed - is a presentation that shares completed qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research or pilot programs related to interprofessional education and/or collaborative practice.  The session duration is 20 minutes with a 10-minute formal presentation and a 10-minute discussion.
  • Seminar - is an in-depth presentation relevant to interprofessional education and/or collaborative practice including opportunity for dialogue and networking.  The session duration is 45 minutes.
  • Poster - is an interactive presentation using a visual display to showcase the program or research findings.
