A telehealth monitoring device fits snugly around my finger to record and transmit a vital sign to a provider at a desktop, but that device will soon be replaced by an illuminated sensor that records and sends my vital signs to the provider’s mobile device at a finger touch. Telehealth, like the technology that produces it, is an evolving concept. Mobile health technologies, enabling individuals and health providers to connect with each other regardless of geographical distance and hour of the day, are increasing the opportunities for interprofessional practice and education. Which type of technology or telecommunication system do you envision as being supportive of, or contradictory towards, your goals for professional practice or education/training, and what effects (negative or postive) can those tools have on the outcome or experience of the population served?
