Kristina King, NP, FNP-C has practiced integrative and alternative medicine in a variety of settings including the Indian Health Service in Arizona’s high desert, on a remote island off the coast of Maine, and at a pioneering integrative clinic using medical marijuana with a wide variety of severe and chronic conditions including PTSD, cancer, seizure disorders, IBS and Crohn’s, and chronic pain. In addition to primary care and emergency room experience, she is also a Clinical Herbalist and Reiki pracitioner who has used these skills extensively in medical clinics. She co-founded Deep Well Health in Northampton, Massachusetts, an integrative clinic supporting the journey to optimal health in the face of chronic conditions resistant to conventional treatment with her partner Tom Murray, EdD, a researcher and scholar of developmental theory.
King was born to a medical family comprising three generations of physicians and two of nurses. Her great-grandfather founded a hospital in Egypt, her grandfather taught at Harvard Medical School, her father was also a physician. Her mother was a member of a medical research team studying induced hypothermia which would eventually be used in open-heart surgery. Kristina's own fascination with health and illness took her into the garden, to the woods, and then eventually to nurse practitioner school. She has studied with many respected herbalists including Deb Soule and David Winston and most recently with Donnie Yance, an innovative clinician with over 30-years experience helping patients live healthy lives in the face of often advanced-stage cancer. While an integrative clinician at Maine Integrative Healthcare, a pioneering integrative practice lead by Dr. Dustin Sulak, she managed patients using medical marijuana for a variety of severe conditions.
In addition, Kristina uses hands-on therapies to optimize health. She’s a Third degree Reiki practitioner trained by Libby Barnett, Reiki Master in the Usui, Hayashi, Takata lineage and Dr. Dustin Sulak, in the Tera-Mai™ lineage. Kristina studied Narrative Medicine and Cherokee Bodywork with Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona, author of Coyote Medicine, whose work is very helpful for releasing stuck messages lodged in the body, returning patients to better health, and reducing pain. She was mentored by Dustin Sulak, DO in biodynamic and hands-on therapies in the osteopathic tradition.
