Dr. Grishondra Branch-Mays received her D.D.S. from the University of Michigan in 1991.  Following dental school, she completed a General Practice Residency Program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 1992 and completed her specialty training in Periodontology and her M.S. in Periodontics in 1994 from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

Upon completion of her residency program in periodontics, Dr. Branch-Mays opened a private practice and began teaching part-time at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. In 1997,  she accepted the position of Director of Pre-Doctoral Education in Periodontics. Dr. Branch-Mays was appointed Director of Interprofessional Education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and was asked to serve on the President’s Interprofessional Education Taskforce. She served as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgical Sciences at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine prior to relocating to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where she serves as Associate Professor and Director, Interprofessional Education. Dr. Branch-Mays is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology and she currently serves as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Periodontology.
