Aaron J. Michelfelder, M.D., FAAFP, FAAMA is the Chair of  the Deaprtment of Family Medicine, a professor of Family Medicine, Bioethics & Health Policy, and Medical Education as well as the Co-Director for the Institute for Transformative Interprofessional Education (I-TIE) at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.  He grew up in Colorado, and then attended Northwestern University for undergraduate school and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine for medical school.  He completed his residency including a Chief Resident year in family medicine at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois and completed medical acupuncture training through the UCLA/Helms Medical Institute.  Dr. Michelfelder has led and participated in numerous international medical and academic missions to Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Ghana, Bolivia, and Panama and currently holds Visiting Professor status in the John Paul II Bioethics Center and the University of Havana, Cuba. He is board-certified in both medical acupuncture and family medicine and maintains a clinical practice at the Loyola University Health System in Maywood, Illinois.
