Dr. Teri Kennedy is Associate Dean, Interprofessional Practice, Education, Policy, and Research and holds the Ida Johnson Feaster Professorship in Interprofessional Practice and Education with the University of Kansas School of Nursing, The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She previously worked at Arizona State University in Phoenix and Tucson, where she served as Director, Office of Gerontological & Interprofessional Initiatives, School of Social Work and Faculty Lead: Clinical Partnerships, Center for Advancing Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research (CAIPER), Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation.
She serves on the Nexus Learning System Advisory Committee, National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education; Advisory Committee for Interdisciplinary, Community-Based Linkages (ACICBL), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2020-2023); is a member of the National Rural Health Association; and a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and National Academies of Practice. She is former Chair, ACICBL (2017-2019); Immediate Past Chair, Interprofessional Education/Collaborative Practice Track, Council on Social Work Education (CSWE); and member of the National Advisory Council for the Accelerating Interprofessional Community-Based Education and Practice initiative, also serving as a site visitor and sustainability expert (2017-2018). She developed the Kennedy Model of Sustainability, adopted by the National Center of Interprofessional Practice and Education as part of their Nexus Learning System model and used to support interprofessional education and practice (IPE) and geriatric initiatives.
She was a Health and Aging Policy Fellow (HAPF) and American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow (2015-2016) with the Senate Special Committee on Aging through Senator Jeff Flake's (R-AZ) DC Office. She actively participates in the HAPF Alumni Network, advancing health and aging policy with a focus on Age-Friendly Health Systems.
Dr. Kennedy has 17 years of direct practice and administrative experience serving older adults and their families through the provision of health, behavioral health, and social services in home and community-based, home health, in-patient medical and gero-psychiatric, and skilled nursing facility settings.
