By the end of the presentation, learners should be able to describe the different care options for persons with dementia such as personal residence community, assisted living, skilled nursing facilities, and hospice. Slides of the second half of the presentation are available to download along with a tip sheet for communicating with a person with dementia.

He reviews some specific conditions that are seen in older adults and gives the oral health perspective of the conditions to give some ideas how to collaborate with others on these cases to improve clinical outcomes. The conditions that are discussed in this presentation are xerostomia, radiation caries, osteoradionecrosis, medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, and periodontal disease. She walks through what qualifies as a community-based activity group versus an adult day care, who attends a dementia activity group, and the Global Deterioration Scale for dementia and Alzheimer's disease and how an activity group should be geared for each stage. She also discusses who can provide these service and activities. The presentation also includes some rules and precautions that should be created as a policy for an activity group.
