This presentation (39:44 minutes) given by Melinda Luis and Ujwal Patel discusses how to optimize oral health in the older adult population. By the end of this presentation, learners should be able to: (1) describe older adult populations at greater risk for dental disease; (2) identify causes of dental diseases and related nutrition consequences associated with four common systemic diseases in the older adult population; (3) recall evidence-based interventions to prevent and treat dental disease and nutrient intake problems in the older adult population; and (4) recall three community resources which provide dental and nutrition services to patients and health care professionals.
