In this podcast series Sarah Peyre, assistant dean for interprofessional education at the University of Rochester Medical Center, explores how two teams at the University of Rochester implemented interprofessional processes and education to provide – and enhance – patient care. Following a roundtable format, each podcast provides an overview of the strategies and best practices that have allowed the multidisciplinary teams to effectively collaborate and improve patient care.

Chapter 2: IMPACT

The In-Patient Multi-Disciplinary Pediatric Asthma Care Team (IMPACT) at Golisano Children’s Hospital has not only improved care for asthma patients, but has transformed the teams providing care through onsite training, collaboration and honest discussion.

During this podcast, the interprofessional team of clinicians – including pediatricians, nurses and clinical nurse specialists – discusses how they were able to change the standards of care to develop a new clinical pathway for asthma patients and create a lasting infrastructure for change.
