Topic:
Getting to Know Each Other
Overview:
The Loyola Institute for Transformative Interprofessional Education (I-TIE) is a formal structure to advance interprofessional practice and education at Loyola University in Chicago. I-TIE builds upon a successful HRSA Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention grant. The workshop facilitators shared the I-TIE story in a January 2015 in a National Center – HRSA webinar series, Practical Steps to Address Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Implementation Challenges: The Loyola Experience. The formation of an effective institute provides the organizational structure to bridge interprofessional education and collaborative practice. Within I-TIE, health professionals and educators set goals for new initiatives, determine and measure outcomes. This process allows aligning interprofessional education with clinical practice to achieve improved health and educational outcomes.
Workshop participants will gain insight, knowledge and strategies for developing an appropriate formal structure (i.e. Institute) to advance interprofessional practice and education at their own organizations. Expect active engagement, personalized attention, access to collective wisdom and a dose of fun! All institute resources including initial proposal, examples of biannual reports and marketing materials will be shared.
