Content Description:

Students volunteering in a student-run free clinic have been shown to maintain high attitudes towards working together on interprofessional teams. This environment provides interprofessional teams of student the opportunity to care for underserved patients under the tutelage of interprofessional teams of preceptors. Many models for how this can be done exist all over the country. Recognizing that starting, maintaining, and growing a student-run free clinic is challenging, a group of faculty from these clinics started meeting on an annual basis at the Society of Student Run Free Clinics Annual Conference to share ideas. Out of this grew the Student Run Free Clinic Faculty Association which creates a network of faculty, clinicians and staff involved in student-run free clinics and provides a mechanism to share data and outcomes to improve these clinics. This showcase and consultation kiosk will bring the expertise of the President and President-Elect of the Association to talk about the tools, tips and resources for starting a new clinic or enhancing one which already exists. We will talk about practical operational issues such as finances and pharmaceuticals and faculty-specific issues of scholarship and promotion. Afterwards we will be available to speak one-on-one to interested attendees.
