"Gauging Aging: Mapping the Gaps Between Expert and Public Understandings of Aging in America"
Submitted by Minnesota North... on Apr 10, 2025 - 5:37pm CDT
This report is the first step in a larger collaboration with the Leaders of Aging Organizations, a group administered by Grantmakers in Aging that includes the AARP, the American Federation for Aging Research, the American Geriatrics Society, the American Society on Aging, the Gerontological Society of America, the National Council on Aging, and the National Hispanic Council on Aging. The collaboration seeks to develop a new, evidence-based narrative around the process of aging in our country, and the roles and contributions of older Americans. This first phase of the project identifies the patterns of thinking that Americans use to reason about issues related to aging, and compares those patterns with the knowledge in the aging field. It is supported by grants from the AARP, the Archstone Foundation, The Atlantic Philanthropies, the John A. Hartford Foundation, the Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Foundation, The Retirement Research Foundation, and the Rose Community Foundation. The project is managed by Laura Robbins of Laura A. Robbins Consulting, LLC.
