This article explores opportunities to impact mood in individuals with dementia, such as feeling of safety, with specific sound stimuli. The influence of voice and music are discussed along with considerations around altered auditory cognition due to dementia. A framework for a soundscape design using acoustic stimuli for influencing changes in mood, feelings of safety, and responses is proposed nursing homes.
