Our health is influenced by diverse factors — not only by medical care and our health care system, but also by our work, our level of education and income, where we live and many other things that are together referred to as social determinants of health (SDH).
It can be challenging to raise awareness about the importance of economic, social and environmental policies for building a healthier population. As part of its mandate to facilitate action on SDH, the Canadian Council on Social Determinants of Health (CCSDH) supported research to assist member agencies as well as other individuals and organizations to build the knowledge and tools needed to develop effective SDH messages.
