In partnership with Service Providers for Seniors group in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Dakota Geriatrics (GWEP) has organised a series of webinars on the Age Friendly Heatlhcare Systems and the framework of Geriatric 4Ms.

Reports from the medical literature and professional societies indicate the need for better geriatrics training.  Part of this need comes from a shortage of geriatricians in the state to meet the medical needs of frail older adults.  Given this gap in geriatrics expertise, it is incumbent to train interdisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals in competent, culturally sensitive geriatrics care. This webinar series has the overall theme of Creating Age Friendly Health Care and Communities; a theme which echoes current health care strategies to create collaborations between providers, patients and community services. The series addresses both assessment and management of older adult care, providing evidence – based methods for the framework of Geriatric 4Ms.  Overall, this program seeks to update health care providers on best practices for older adult care.

These webinars are offered 2nd Monday of the month at 4PM CT (starting February 2021 through June 2021) and are recorded for online education. The slides and recordings are available on Dakota Geriatrics website. Live webinars offer continuing education credits for OT, PT, social workers and nurses. Recorded sessions offer CE for social workers (self-study hours), OT and nurses.
