National Center Journal Club with Dr. Stuart C. Gilman
Join Dr. Stuart C. Gilman and Dr. M. Nawal Lutfiyya in a discussion about the interaction between care transformation and redesign of health professions education at the largest integrated delivery system in the United States, the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
The basis of the discussion is Dr. Gilman's August 2014 article in Academic Medicine in which he and his co-authors discuss:
- The implications of new models of care for health professions education, including education for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other professions engaged in primary care.
- The challenges and lessons learned in the context of a demonstration initiative that involved five sites and their academic affiliates in Boise, Cleveland, San Francisco, Seattle and West Haven.
- The VA’s interprofessional primary care curricula for resident physicians and nurse practitioner students that began in 2011.
At the end of the presentation, Dr. Gilman will participate in a question and answer session with webinar attendees.
