Best known for working with hospitals to improve nurse retention, satisfaction, and quality of care with Dr. Havens on “Spiraling Upward” and “Building Capacity” HRSA projects, I am a specialist in organization development, practicing a strengths-based approach to change using "Appreciative Inquiry." Current project is "Shaping Systems to Promote Desired Outcomes: NEPQR-IPCP in Rural North Carolina EDs." Purpose is improving patient flow and quality of care in 4 EDs. Appreciative Inquiry projects are University of Kentucky Hospital and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I have an MS degree in Human Resource Development from American University/NTL Institute for Behavioral Sciences, and a BS in Education from the University of Minnesota. I live in Mount Gretna, PA, and Flat Rock NC.
Previously I worked for Andersen Consulting, now Accentureimplementing information technology systems. I spent 17 years with CIGNA in human resource management in international and domestic businesses. Very early in my career I lived and worked in Guatemala, teaching classes from elementary to adults.
