Lori A. Porter joined UNLV in January 2025 as inaugural Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPEP). She is responsible for developing and implementing IPEP initiatives within the schools and mental & behavioral health units associated with UNLV Academic Health (medicine, dental, nursing, public health, integrated health sciences, and UNLV Practice). She is a creative and collaborative professional with experience leading and managing strategic initiatives and projects related to nutrition, interprofessional education, professional development, accreditation, and certification for students and health professionals.

Prior to joining UNLV, Porter served as the Executive Director for the Academy of Communication in Healthcare, Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice at Ball State University, Program Director for Professional Standards at the American Board of Medical Specialties, Director of Content Development for the American Association of Diabetes Educators, and Director of Practice for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has also worked in clinical settings including Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Humana Healthcare.

Porter received her BS degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University, MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management, and EdD in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University. Her scholarship focused on interprofessional education.

Porter is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with the American Society of Association Executives, and a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (FNAP). In 2023, she and her colleagues received the National Academies of Practice Creativity in Education and Practice Award.  Porter is also a graduate of the Institute of Organization Management, a nonprofit management professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  

Areas of interests include women's health, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease, team-based care, and leadership in health care. Porter is also a yoga enthusiast and teacher.
