Our Interest in Interprofessional Practice and Education:

Since 1980, The University of Pittsburgh Health Policy Institute (HPI) has been committed to producing quality, evidence-based policy research and programming for government, business and the foundation community.  Our goal is simple – to help answer the key policy questions facing the health system through multi-disciplinary, scientific policy analysis and education.

HPI is the only academic health policy institute in the U.S. that combines expertise across of all the health sciences - medicine, public health, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry and the rehabilitation sciences - to conduct applied research and make policy recommendations.   The solutions to a healthy population and sustainable health care do not lie in reforming one part of the health system.  The answers are found in informed policy that understands how the components work together to achieve our best objectives.

The HPI Governance Initiative convenes trustees, practitioners and thought leaders to identify best practices and provide executive education on today’s rapidly changing regulatory environment.  Please visit our Governance Initiative archive to get a front row seat for recorded sessions on timely issues like tax exempt healthcare organizations, patient safety and health reform implementation and compliance.

HPI affiliated faculty make up a core group of health services researchers with the experience and expertise necessary to tackle any health policy research project.   As you look for a collaborative research partner, please consider the University of Pittsburgh HPI team and contact us if we can be of service.
